| The trick that makes experienced mechanics say this will not work is not the hydrogen and oxygen mix. It is the clean or dirty exhaust. In cars newer than 1993, there is a sensor in the exhaust pipe (called a map sensor) before the catilitic converter that detects how clean or dirty the exhaust fumes are. The computer in the car makes adjustments to the amount of gas pumped into the chambers based on the sensor. If the air is dirty, then the computer thinks there is too much gasoline lowers the amount pumped into the chambers. If the air is clean, then the computer thinks there is not enough gasoline pumped into the chambers. Once you start using hydrogen and oxygen in the chambers, the computer sees cleaner exhaust and will increase the gasoline used, thus defeating the purpose of the water for fuel add-on. |
So the next piece of the puzzle is created... something that will lie to the computer saying the air is dirtier than actually exists in the exhaust. This is called a map enhancer. After being lied to about the exhaust, the computer will adjust the amount of gasoline to use less and less gasoline, thus increasing your gasoline mileage.
